There's 2 areas where we (Parallelspace) has a specific interest, potentially some contribtuions and are interested in kicking off a community-based effort:
1. "WorkflowML" for describing workflow solutions like those you'd create in K2.net, WWF or other platforms. XOML is not adequate for this (see http://pluralsight.com/blogs/dbox/archive/2005/10/22/15806.aspx). XPDL is an existing option (http://www.wfmc.org/standards/XPDL.htm) but is "MS NIH" ;-).
2. RSS-like notification schema for aggregating workflow action requests from multiple workflow applications. For example, to support an RSS-based reader to aggreagate all of the lists of activities waiting for my action from all of the worflows I'm a participant in from all of the workflow applications that individually host WWF).

Michael, did you ever get a reply to your post? I'm doing a project that involves Office 12's workflow tools a bit and would like to hear any thoughts you may have.
Thanks! - Tony Lima
