Hi Guys,

I developed a small utility for developers working on OOXML format. Its a chrome packaged application which allows user to see contents of the OOXML file without extracting it. You just need to drag and drop the file and the application will show nice file system view. The document parts are shown on the left panel. Selecting the document part from the left panel shows its contents in the right panel. You can navigate the document parts just like you navigate any other file system.

Accessing/Manipulating all parts of an OpenXML document when open within Word 2013

Similar as Eric describes in his Open XML Markup Explorer App for Word 2013 I would like to manipulate not only the document.xml part in the open OpenXML Document in Word but all parts like adding a picture to the media folder. Is such a thing possible with an open document in Word 2013 without closing it (like in Eric’s Sample: Open XML Markup Explorer App for Word 2013)?

Hi,

Being forced to remove VS2010 from dev machines to work only in VS2012. Why? Don't know but must comply. I have searched and searched but finally must ask. What is the go with Open XML Package Editor Power Tool on VS2012? I notice that Eric still uses 2010 with it in his videos so even Eric is restricted here.

Or is there something I need to do to get it to work??

Hi,

I assigned the text to excel excel like,

But,It's not working.It works for Excel export using COM dll.

Mergin Powerpoint Presentations

Hi All,

sorry if this question has been done other times but I'm wondering if there will be some day a function in DocumentBuilder that merges powerpoint presentations as it exists for Word docs.

Which steps are required to build a function like that in PowerTools?

I've already seen this very interesting article: http://openxmldeveloper.org/blog/b/openxmldeveloper/archive/2011/01/28/110420.aspx

and implemented that function. The results is not always the same. I've learned that the document created most of the times contain some kind of incorrect data and PowerPoint prompts me to repair them when I first open them.

Other times the code results in crash. Anyone has experience with this?

Using open xml sdk, i'm validating a certain word file for errors.

This is just the sample code i'm using to highlight

As you see, i'm highlighting a particular RUN to show the error to the user. After this process, in another click event, I want to remove all the highlight that I've done.

While doing so, I should not remove the highlights done by the user. Only those highlights inserted by me should be deleted by me. How to do this ?

Any ideas on this...

How to use conditional field in CustomXML?

I use content control in word document.

Theses content controls are linked to data coming from a web service.

The custom xml is replaced correctly but what is the solution for field linked to another field? Do you have any idea how I can proceed?

For example: I have a field reportType and a field reportStatus

According to a report type value set => a report status value is required, how do I solve this problem.

Power Tools 2.2 on Visual Studio EXPRESS

I thought I followed all of the instructions for installing Power Tools 2.2, but when I drag a MS Word document onto a running instance of Visual Studio Express, the document opens in MS Word. Word actually starts up and loads the document. It even does this when I use VS Express File -> Open and choose the word document. It still causes to MS Word to start up and loads the document. Is this something that will only work in the full version of VS?

Excel 2007 Custom Ribbon tab - Slow opening and saving performance

I created a Excel 2007 macro project, and used the Custom UI Editor to create a nice Custom Ribbon Tab called Macros. This tab has 4 buttons that have images and run their associate macros when clicked.

Everything runs well, but when we upgrade from XP/2007 to Windows7/2007 the workbook (.xlsm) takes from 30 sec. - 1 minute to open, and about the same time to save.

I tested this without the Ribbon (same VBA code), and it opened, and saved very quickly. This is why the Custom Ribbon tab (and it's XML) is my prime suspect.

Has anyone encountered these performance issues, and what have you done to resolve it. Doing some research online, some users have decide to go back to 2003, but it is not an option for us.

We have a lot of documents in the old Word 2003 XML format. Is there any way that we could convert those documents to Open XML format ? Currently it seems that all converters provided by Microsoft concentrate on conversion of binary files to Open XML...

custom UI editor - macro not found

Can anybody help me finding the right code to start a macro using this tool? I tried the example code using onaction="mymacrobutton" but - although I have created such a macro it could not be found. I also tried onaction="normal.dotm.mymacrobutton"

Custom UI Editor don't work with .Net 4

The Custom UI Editor tool doesn’t want to install with .Net4 it wants .Net3 , is there a way to get it to work with .Net4 ?

How to migrate from .dot to .dotx or .docx

We have a solution build on Word 2003 that uses .dot files.
This has to work at the same time as we build our now solution on OpenXML.
So now I would like to be able to convert from .dot to .dotx or .docx, and I would like to do that programatically on a Windows Server without Word installed.

Is that possible? How?

Custom UI editor issues

Hi folks!

I"m facing a problem with the Custom UI editor for Microsoft Office thats driving me nuts... When I edit a Xml code within the XLSM file, it works well... When I opened the file and tested the callbacks indexed with the buttons of my customized ribbon, I tried to opened it again in the Custom UI Editor and it returns to me that "The file has corrupted data".

What its supposed to be? I searched for it at the google and it seemed to me that this forum is the best place to ask for help. Anyone who had faced that problem would help. For further information, the specific file has some VBA codes that runs when the file are opened.

DocumentReflector error

I'm getting an error when opening certain docx/docm files using Document Reflector. The error message is:

"The given key was not present in the dictionary"

This seems to happen when I add a new chart into a document based on a custom chart template. Has anyone else seen this issue before and been able to work around it? Currently, I'm just avoiding the use of chart templates.

I'd like to submit a bug for this, but currently the MS Connect site seems to be non-functional, so I thought I'd try here.

Error Message in Excel 2007

Hi,

I have created an excel workbook in Office 2003, and then my system has been updated to Office 2007. While saving the workbook in the new version, and error occured which caused the loss of the file.

When I try to open it now, the following error message appears "Excel cannot open the file 'filename.xlsx' because the file format for the file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file." (id. 101590).

I tried to repair the file, but the same message appears again, and when I tried to follow MS instruction for this error (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928979), the only option to save as I have is excel 97-2003, and again it does not work.

Can somebody please help me solving this as the file is really important, and all backup copies have been deleted by mistake.

DTD or XML schema

I'm looking for a XML schema or DTD (Document Type Definition) file for my PHP-generated XML files for the Office Open XML format, especially for document.xml. I often get errors from Word after implementing new features, so I have to check the ECMA-376 document and compare all tags and attributes once again, which is annoying, so I thought there must be a XML schema file somewhere for document.xml which implements those definitions. I can't find anything like that @Google yet.

Does anyone know who I need to contact regarding the CustomUI Editor. I would like to contact the designer and request the capability to Find (Ctrl+F) and Replace (Ctrl+H) be added to the editor. This would save us a significant amount of time with the custom ribbon we build for each new form we build.

Hello all,

I have a requirement wherein I need to convert the docx files to doc files. I looked around and found the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats ("http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=941B3470-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en"). Installing this would places a bunch of files in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\ directory. This folder also contains an executable named "Wordconv.exe" which according to this http://www.oooninja.com/2008/02/office-compatibility-pack-review.html converts the docx files to doc files if you use the execute the following for example :-

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\wordconv.exe" -oice -nme

I downloaded the compatibility pack and tried the above command. Nothing happens. No error message,no output,nothing. I wonder what is the problem. In the above link,some guys have suggested to download the latest windows updates from Windows.
Well,I tried this in my Windows XP 2nd Edition (with Service Pack 2) and only thing I am left to install in service pack 3. Is that required? This WIndows XP machine does not have the Office 2007 installed. Is it required?

Also,I tried this on a Windows server 2003 machine which also has the compatibility pack and result is same.

Am I missing anything? If yes,please let me know as I am kinda stuck in this. I dont want to use a commercial product like "Aspose.Words" for this.

Is there any other tool available from Microsoft to convert docx to doc files? Please let me know.
