How long would you say it takes to...

...create a powerpoint slide deck that extracts data from a sharepoint list?

Once that data is finally exctracted will it be able to be manipulated further?

I am new to OpenXML, What is your best resource to do this?

I'm uncertain about the nature of extracting data from a sharepoint list.

I can tell you that you have full control using the Open XML SDK v2.0 of how the data is presented in OpenXML.

Perhaps a SharePoint focussed forum could assist you with the extraction of data and then you can come back here for any help presenting the data in an OpenXML document.
