Data-Entry controls that produce OpenXML?

  • Hi everyone.

I have a scenario where we have an existing application that allows users to enter certain data. The data, currently HTML, is taken and transformed into OOXML and inserted into a document\template.

Since the transformation process is a bit sketchy and the visual control we use to input the data and produce the HTML is somewhat lacking, I was wondering if there's a known alternative that produces OpenXML directly.

Any help with this is appreciated. I've been looking at Aspose's Editor, TX Text Control and i believe DevExpress are planning a similar control as well (XtraRichEdit or so). I'd love to know if anyone tried a control like that and can say how well it works.

    Thanks in advance.

  • I've always been a big fan of the DevExpress tools but I'm not sure that their new Rich Edit control is going to natively support OOXML

I woiuld encourage you to give their support people a call as they're really repsonsive.

I have used the Aspose server side tools previously (back in the good old days of the binary office formats!). I've never used their client side controls, but, I can vouch for their knowledge of working with document standards.

  • for DevExpress, i was looking at this - http://community.devexpress.com/blogs/thinking/archive/2009/01/22/rich-text-editor-for-winforms-in-2009.aspx

As for Aspose, They currently do not support creating lists in their control, which is why i asked for other controls that might be suitable.

  • Hello Chris

Aspose stopped their support for document editing. I would like to suggest to have a look at our component TX Text Control:
