  • Hi Eric,

I tried this code to convert word document (docx) to HTML but it’s not preserving document format. The word document contains form object.

  • Hi Eric

I second the question from franferns25 last month

Does this support conversion of word documents with header and footer ? It doesn't seem to output anything from the header when I invoke the method. Is there a workaround (such as cloning the content of the header and prepending it to the document body?

    thanks

    Joel

  • Hi Billy_London and franferns25,

Currently, this does not support conversion of headers and footers.  I understand that this is a key requirement, and I have put this near the top of the list.  (Before doing this, I need to get full support for RTL languages, as well as text boxes.)

    But I really hear you.

One key limitation that I anticipate for putting together a rendering of DOCX as HTML/CSS, including headers, is that it is not possible to completely duplicate the layout engine of Word.  Pagination will be different for HTML/CSS when compared with Word.  I've analyzed the issue in detail, and there are areas where it is simply impossible to render DOCX in HTML/CSS with exactly identical horizontal and vertical spacing, so therefore pagination will be an approximation, and will not exactly match.

    Thanks, Eric

  • Hi Eric,

I really appreciate your tutorials and all of the time you have dedicated to this development community.  I'm struggling to run the latest HtmlConverter on OS X 10.9.3 in Mono 3.4.0 with Xaimarin Studio.

When I unzipped the latest PowerTools for OpenXML package and opened the OpenPowerToolsExamples project, I had trouble getting it to compile and run at first - ran into linking errors around DocumentFormat.OpenXML.Packaging.  It turns out I needed to remove the files under the OpenPowerToolsExamples/packages directory and then re-add the packages straight from NuGet.

Now that it compiles, I'm getting an OpenXmlPackageException thrown when calling WordprocessingDocument.Open() on any of the sample files you provided.  The message says "Invalid Hyperlink: Malformed URI is embedded as a hyperlink in the document.", but I don't see any hyperlinks at all when I review the documents.

I'd appreciate any suggestions that you or others have for running these examples on Mono.

  • Can I open this project in VS2010 as i am getting an incompatible error. I need HTMLconverter with CSS to work in VS2010

  • Amazing screencast but when tried to use convert to html with powershell and tried to convert a docx to html but it cannot find the dll I guess and gives me this error.

Unable to find type [OpenXmlPowerTools.HtmlConverterHelper]. Make sure that the assembly that contains this type is loaded.

  • It's OK, seems that after few reinstallations it's finally working. Can't tell why, steps were all the same.
