This is the first in a series of screen-casts that will show all the ins and outs of SpreadsheetML. My goal is to present all of the most commonly used features of spreadsheets and how they are represented in SpreadsheetML. I will not be including any code examples in this series, but many of my other blog posts contain detailed code examples.

If you are an experienced Open XML developer, there may not be much of value to you here, though I may touch on an area that you have wondered about or been wanting to learn more about. The material should be very valuable to new developers.
If you are not that familiar with the Open Packaging Conventions (OPC), then you may want to take a look at Eric White's two-part series (Part 1 and Part 2). Eric also has some excellent screen-casts that explain how to find and use Open XML development tools that I use in this screen-cast. In particular, the Open XMLPackage Editor Power Tool for Visual Studio is invaluable.
In this first part, I look at the representation of cell values and how to format those values using styles.
